Carbon Fiber Bicycle Paint System

  1. Frame is cleaned with the DuPont PrepSol to remove oils, grease, impurities.
  2. The frame is hand-sanded, flattening the old paint and removing decals.
  3. We use a three-part DuPont ChromaPremier sealer process.
  4. Then, we use a three-part DuPont ChromaPremier primer.
  5. We then wet-sand the frame.
  6. Now the frame is ready for painting.
  7. DuPont ChromaPremier Value Shade Sealers and ChromaBase Systems are used for the colors, with any custom paint work being now applied.
  8. After the paint work is completed effects are applied to the frame such as: pearl, metal flake, flip flop, etc.
  9. If decals are desired, they are applied at this time.
  10. Finally, we use Du Pont’s Imron 500S, a two-component, polyurethane clear, as the final step in protecting and beautifying your new paint job.

Aluminum Bicycle Paint System

  1. The frame is stripped to the base metal using chemical strippers.
  2. Next the frame is glass beaded.
  3. Then the frame is cleaned with Dupont’s 225s Metal Cleaner.
  4. Following the metal cleaner, Du Pont’s 226s Conversion Coating is applied to the frame.
  5. Next Du Pont’s Variprime (a self etching primer) is applied to the frame.
  6. Uro Primer, Filler is applied next which becomes the real foundation for the paint.
  7. Spot putty and body filler are then used as needed to fill frame imperfections.
  8. Wet sanding then brings out that glass like surface, for color application.
  9. The frame is then reprised as needed to cover any frame work.
  10. Du Pont’s Centari Acrylic Enamel is now applied wet and glossy or matte, as requested by the customer.
  11. Chroma Base color or colors, with any custom paint work is now applied.
  12. After the paint work is completed effects are applied to the frame such as: pearl, metal flake, flip flop, etc.
  13. If decals are desired, they are applied at this time.
  14. Du Pont’s Imron, a two-component, polyurethane clear, is the final step in protecting and beautifying your new paint.

Steel: Two Stage Paint System

  1. Disclosure: We do NOT do chroming.
  2. The frame is stripped to the base metal using chemical strippers.
  3. Next the frame is glass beaded to remove corrosion, oxidation and rust as needed.
  4. Then the frame is cleaned with Du Pont’s 5717 metal conditioner (an acid cleaner).
  5. At this time any metal work is performed upon customers request ( braze on, dent repair, alignment, etc).
  6. Next Du Pont’s Variprime (a self etching primer) is applied to the frame.
  7. Uro Primer, Filler is applied next which becomes the real foundation for the paint.
  8. Spot putty and body filler are then used as needed to fill frame imperfections.
  9. Wet sanding then brings out that glass like surface, for color application.
  10. The frame is then reprimed as needed to cover any frame work.
  11. Du Pont’s Centari Acrylic Enamel is now applied wet and glossy or matte, as requested by the customer.
